The Balancing Act: Growing a Family and a Wedding Business

Just wrapping up my final wedding of this summer season, I find myself in awe of the journey I've had this year. I’ve always taken pride in my work, knowing firsthand the immense sacrifice and dedication it took to reach this point. When people ask how long I’ve been in this industry, I usually say 8 years, but my follow-up is always the same: "I’m only just getting started."

No matter how glamorous this career may seem (and it is), executing at this level requires incredible stamina to withstand the physically demanding nature of the job. It means standing on my swollen feet for 15-hour days, lifting heavy boxes and décor, arranging personal touches, and being the first to arrive and the last to leave. It’s fast-paced and challenging, and for 5 months, I kept my pregnancy a secret from my clients. If only you could see their surprised faces when I shared the news at the end of their evenings, followed by the many group hugs as we laughed and cried at the incredible things we accomplished together—without ever missing a beat.

While I continued to work at the same pace as before, my body eventually began to slow down. Like many expecting mothers, I was nervous about how this new journey would impact my life. Despite the exhaustion, fatigue, and discomfort, I pushed forward as I always have—with focus, determination, and a nothing-to-lose mentality.

We concluded this season by creating the most beautiful memories for both our destination and in-state clients. August, my last month before maternity leave, has been one of our strongest months for bookings, and we’re on track for our highest-performing year. I’ve also closed my books for Q1 and Q2 of 2025, and I have no regrets about choosing to invest the latter part of this year in my growing family.

Seeing my two babies (my little one and my business) grow simultaneously has brought me so much joy. I’m confident that I’ve built something truly special—something that will stand the test of time.

As I look forward to the fall-winter event season, I am excited to work on a select group of four events with the kindest and most understanding clients. I can't wait to see what the new year brings!

I hope this serves as a kind reminder you don't have to give up your dreams of starting a family and building an empire. It may require thoughtful prioritization, but it's absolutely possible. With the right planning and support, you can create a fulfilling life that balances your personal and professional goals. It's not lost on me that I couldn't have achieved this without my incredible support system, especially my mom and husband. Their love, encouragement, and unwavering belief in me have been instrumental in my journey. I couldn’t be more grateful to have them by my side.
