Give Thanks
Always show gratitude. I'm still quite the old-fashioned girl. By that, I mean I still believe in words such as, "Sorry," "Please" and one of my favorites, "Thank you." With the emergence of new media and technologies, I find that our generation sometimes forget that the simplest gestures are usually the ones that matter. I never say these words out of courtesy for I do believe that the way in which I choose to show gratitude is a personable art in itself. I don't care who you are, I will use them sparingly because at the end of the day, sincerity is such a wonderful thing to spread and I love to give it as much as I love to receive it. In the dating world, it's these same little actions that separate a conscientious gentleman from his peers. Aka the difference between me wanting to get to know you versus disappearing for X amount of time and by 'X' I mean a really long time. You'd be surprise how many times I've encountered a person who could care less about saying these words when someone has done something for them. It's quite disheartening, really... because it takes so little effort to show someone you're appreciative of them.
From experience, I've learned that being thankful allows those closest to us (as well as strangers) know that they are valued. That their friendship, service, time is important. By establishing that mutual respect between both parties, I've gained so many more solid friendships throughout this past year as well as the previous. I genuinely do believe that although you can always have more, you can also always have less.
This year, I have a lot to be thankful for and while I could go on all day and list them all, I have narrowed down my top 5.
#1 My family For their love and support. For dealing with my craziness. As I get older, I slowly learn the value of family.
#2 My friends My cheerleader. My backbone.
#3 My education USC Annenberg has pushed in so many ways. I read more nowadays than I have ever read in my entire life.
#4 My health I'm better, faster, stronger than ever before.
#5 Los Angeles The place I call home.
Anyway, I hope that all of you have a very special Thanksgiving. And if you took the time out of your day to read this, I do want to let you know that even if I don't know who you are (specifically), I am still grateful for your time. My writing is something so dear to me and I'm just happy that I now have an outlet to share my thoughts with all of you.
