Describe Yourself.
"Describe yourself in 3 words."
3 Things That I Am:
I am passionate.
- I just finished sitting on a guest lecture given by Samy Kamkar (JS. Superhero) and one of the things that really struck me was when he said to the class, "I am really bad at doing things I am not passionate about and that is why I dropped out of school." By no means am I advocating high school or college students to give up on their educational pursuits; however, I do want to highlight one of the main arguments that he was making and that was "I am really good at doing things that I am not passionate about." In a culture that somehow manages to push people to lose their sense of individualism, Samy's passionate character led him to become the person that he is today. Innovator. Hacker. Whistleblower. As I struggle to find my own path in life, at the very least, I can say that I am no stranger to living my life passionately and willfully. I find that when I am passionate about something, I am completely obsessed with it. All I want to do is dissect it, master it, and understand it (ie. public speaking, media). I would spend hours and hours on it. Now I'm just not talking about my interests or career. This could also be applied to relationships, friends, and the like.
I am consistent.
- I know exactly what time I need to wake up every single day. I order the same drink at Starbucks 98% of the time. I go to the gym at least 3 to 4 times a week, 2 hours each time. I call my mother on my drive back from Lionsgate every Monday and Thursday evening. I eat the same thing for breakfast. I like to wear the color black. If I don't need to wear pants, chances are...I won't be wearing any.
- Results? Productivity before the sun rises. On a normal day, I would be able to get in a nice morning work out, go to class, watch a couple of motivational seminars, finish up my homework...all before my roommates step out of their beds to brush their teeth. In regards to my workout regime, I've seen wonderful progress with my body and I'm proud of it. Socially, I try to reach out to my close circle of friends at least 2 to 3 times a week to check up and see how they're doing. In return, I've received nothing but love and support from them. Moral of the story? Consistency, in all aspects of life, eventually pays off.
I am multi-faceted.
- I can do my own hair and make-up. I can do other people's hair and make-up. I like fashion, art, culture, beauty, and entertainment. But I love to play sports, to stay active and be active, to care about my environment, to be involved with non-profit organizations. I also love technology, innovation, and the web. I can market, advertise, and sell snow to a snowman. I work insanely hard on the weekdays and have twice as much fun on the weekends. I enjoy being in front of the camera, but I can also edit, shoot, and produce. For me, it's not about being a jack-of-all-trades. It's about being extremely exceptional at what you do. I just so happen to like to do a lot of things.
3 Things That I Am Not:
I am not funny.
- I cannot crack a joke or make someone laugh. I'm just not a very funny person.
I am not lucky.
- My grades. I've earned them. My internships. I've worked for them. My networks. I built them. Nothing was handed to me on a silver platter and that's perfectly fine by me. So no, I don't consider myself lucky.
I am not the type of girl that a person should date.
- I cannot cook. I cannot clean. I rarely do my own laundry. I am not a fan of long walks on the beach or Disneyland. I have a ton of guy friends who already treats me like the Princess that I am. I don't get surprised very easily. It's hard to keep me amused. I don't need a person to hold my hand or give me a shoulder to cry on. I like to walk and live independently. I rarely ever break down. I may be more interested in the news than our conversations. I will not have time to call you at night because chances are, I'll be too tired and have to wake up early the following morning. We won't be able to go on romantic dates because all of the time in between is dedicated to work, gym, school, and nap time. I also know how to think like a man.
- Overall, I'm probably not the girl for you.
